11/26 Physics update and homework due 12/3
Hi folks,
We have began our unit on Newton's three laws of motion. Today we covered Newton's first law and introduced Newton's second. We will be doing more with Newton's second in upcoming weeks.
For homework this week,
Read pages 43 - 55 in the text book.
Do Think and Explain questions # 1 - 12 on page 57

11/12 Physics update and homework due 11/29
Hi folks,
First off, NO CLASS next Monday due to the Thanksgiving break. Enjoy that turkey and stuffing!!!
Today we did a bit of work on the concepts of vectors and how to add them together to find final velocities. We also did a fairly mathematically complex lab were the students had to predict the speed a Hot Wheels car needed to cover a certain distance and the height that car needed to be dropped from to reach that speed. The lab required some very tricky work with the formulas we've been working with the past few weeks.
For homework this week,
Read pages 28 - 32 in the Conceptual Physics text book.
Do the exercise on page 32.
Do plug and chug questions # 1 - 5 on page 41
Do think and explain questions 1 - 2 on page 41
Do Think and Solve questions 1 - 6 on page 42.
Answers below.
Extra Credit Possibility!!!!!!
For extra credit, use these videos to calculate the vertical velocity, horizontal velocity, resultant velocity and find the acceleration that the car had to have by the time it left the ramp. The car travels 332 ft. Please show ALL #'s and calculations so that I can check your math.
Plug and Chug
1. 250 km/h 150 km/h
2. 175 km/h
3. 141.4 km/h
4. 70.71
5. 5
Think and Explain
1. 9 1
2. You move faster, take a look at the vectors. :)
Think and Solve
1. a. 10
b. 10 NW
2. 200
3. 5 m/s
4 1.25m
5. 30 m/s
6. 250m Don't get fooled by the wording on this. It's just a typical type of these problems. Find out how long it's going to take to hit the ground and then find out how far it travels in that time.

10/5 Physics class and homework due 10/12
Hi folks,
This week we took our new found understanding of 2 dimensional motion and put it to the test by finding out the horizontal, vertical and resultant velocities of a dart shot out of a Nerf gun.
From looking over the quizzes it looks like quite a few folks could use the opportunity to study up on these math concepts. For homework this week, I'd like you to retake today's quiz. I've included the answers so that you can make sure you get them right and more importantly really understand how to do these problems. I highly recommend doing the quiz, checking the answers and redoing from scratch all answers that you don't get right. Then, next Sunday, before class, take the quiz again and make sure you really understand how to do the material. Feel free to watch the recordings if you're not sure how to do these. That's why they are there.
Good luck!

Some outside work for physics
Hi folks,
Today's plan is to spend a bit of time outside for physics so please be sure to have some outside clothes.
See you all soon.

Video to help with homework
Hi folks,
I was helping a student with some of the homework for this week and I recorded some of it just in case some other folks would like some help as well.
Here you go. https://youtu.be/QEuJrS_1haY
